UETDREL006 Work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker
This course overs compliance with working safely up to the defined “safe approach distance” near energised electrical apparatus (inc. electrical powerlines) for non-electrical workers.
It includes work functions that may be performed, such as telecommunications, vegetation control, scaffolding, rigging, painting, and/or any other activity that requires working safely and complying with requirements and/or established procedures near live electrical apparatus by a non-electrical worker.
Included is the preparation of risk assessment control measures that encompass job safety assessment. This unit does not include any work that is or may be performed by other competent operatives within the defined “safe working zone” for instance qualified electricians and allied technicians.
Training and assessment is delivered on behalf of Skills Network Australia Pty Ltd, RTO No. 41410.

Units of Competency
On successful completion of this course, students will be eligible for a Statement of Attainment (SOA) for:
- UETDREL006 Work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker
An SOA will be issued by Skills Network Australia Ltd within 30 days of completion of the course, provided all USI, fees and charges have been finalised.
The units of competency listed above are current on the National Register of VET at the time of publication.
Prerequisites
Course Requirements
Foundation skills are the underpinning communication skills required for participation in the workplace, the community and in adult education and training.
Learning – to learn Working safely near live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker
Reading – work requirements
Writing – to complete documentation such as reports/risk assessments.
Oral communication – communication with other personnel to make sure it is safe
Numeracy – measuring and evaluating risks

Pre-course workbook and 1 day face-to-face training and assessment

Renewal
The recommended industry standard recommend that refresher training should be carried out every 12 months. Ask your employer about their currency expectations.
Fees and Payments
This course is offered and delivered by the training provider on behalf of Skills Network Australia Pty Ltd. The course fee will be paid direct to the training provider.
This course may be arranged by an employer who can be invoiced for the training. If the student is booking direct, training fees must be paid by the student directly to the training provider. Course fees and payment terms will be communicated to the booking party (employer or student) prior to enrolment.
