This course is designed to equip individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to assess and authorize work activities in high-risk environments. It focuses on the issuance of work permits, which are essential documents that ensure safety measures are in place before hazardous work is undertaken. This unit aims to train learners in identifying potential hazards, implementing control measures, and issuing work permits in compliance with relevant regulations and workplace procedures.

On successful completion of this course, students will be eligible for a Statement of Attainment (SOA) for:
An SOA will be issued within 30 days of completion of the course, provided all USI, fees and charges have been finalised.
The unit of competency listed above is current on the National Register of VET at the time of publication.
Foundation skills are the underpinning communication skills required for participation in the workplace, the community and in adult education and training.
Learning – to learn to issue work permits
Reading – to administer work permits
Writing – to complete documentation such as reports/risk assessments/end of day reports
Oral communication – to communicate to other personnel
Numeracy – to be able to issue permits
All training and assessment materials and equipment will be supplied throughout the course. Students will need to bring a blue or black pen and wear comfortable, casual clothing.

4 hours classroom training and assessment.
Training and assessment can be adjusted to account for specific workplace requirements and the existing skills and knowledge of the students.

The recommended industry standard recommend that refresher training should be carried out every two years. Ask your employer about their currency expectations.
