CPPFES2005 Demonstrate first attack firefighting equipment
This course teaches the skills and knowledge required to demonstrate first attack firefighting equipment. It includes demonstrating and explaining to clients how to correctly and safely use portable fire extinguishers, fire hose reels and fire blankets in emergency situations.
The unit is suitable for those with basic skills and knowledge undertaking routine work tasks under the direction of more experienced workers.

Key Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate and explain correct use of portable fire extinguisher to extinguish simulated fire
- Demonstrate and explain correct use of fire hose reel
- Demonstrate and explain use of fire blanket
Units of Competency
On successful completion of this course, students will be eligible for a Statement of Attainment (SOA) for:
- CPPFES2005 Demonstrate first attack firefighting equipment
An SOA will be issued by Skills Network Australia Ltd within 30 days of completion of the course, provided all USI, fees and charges have been finalised.

Prerequisites
Course Requirements
Foundation skills are the underpinning communication skills required for participation in the workplace, the community and in adult education and training.
Reading skills to:
- Follow manufacturer’s instruction to operate emergency equipment
- Interpret and follow workplace procedures
Writing skills to:
- Provide an accurate written report of an incident to a Supervisor and/or ECO
Numeracy skills to:
- Perform basic calculations
Oral communication skills to:
- Conduct a visual and verbal assessment of an emergency situation
- Contribute to a post-incident debrief and evaluation
- Provide an accurate verbal report of an incident to a Supervisor and/or ECO
- Communicate with all parties that may be involved in an emergency
Delivery Modes
1/2 day classroom training and assessment.
Training delivery is classroom based using workplace situations and examples for practical activities.
