HLTAID011/UETDRMP018 Combined Course (Digital)

This course is a combination of the following units of competency:

  • HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support
  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
  • UETDRMP018 Perform rescue from a live low voltage panel

This course provides participants with the necessary skills to provide immediate emergency response to casualties in various situations (HLTAID009, HLTAID010, HLTAID011) with a specific focus on low voltage live panel rescue later on (UETDRMP018)

Training and assessment is delivered on behalf of Skills Network Australia Pty Ltd‚ RTO No. 41410.

Key Learning Outcomes

Provide First Aid
  • management, in line with ARC guidelines of:
    • the unconscious, breathing casualty including appropriate positioning to reduce the risk of airway compromise
    • the unconscious, non-breathing adult
    • the unconscious, non-breathing infant
    • different casualties displaying various symptoms and with different first aid needs
  • response to at least one simulated first aid incident contextualised to the candidate’s workplace or community setting, where the candidate has no knowledge of the casualty’s condition prior to starting treatment
Low Voltage Rescue
  • inspection and placement of rescue equipment
  • types and application of rescue PPE
  • assessment and control hazards to rescuer, casualty and others
  • isolation identification procedures
  • identify voltages and related safe approach distances
  • safety observer role and responsibilities
  • assessment of situation
  • activation of emergency response
  • electrical contact release
  • removal of casualty to safe location
  • assessment of casualty
  • incident site security
  • reporting requirements.

Units of Competency

On successful completion of this course, students will be eligible for a Statement of Attainment (SOA) for:

  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
  • UETDRMP018 Perform rescue from a live low voltage panel

An SOA will be issued by Skills Network within 30 days of completion of the course, provided all USI, fees and charges have been finalised.

The units of competency listed above are current on the National Register of VET at the time of publication.

Prerequisites

The prerequisite for this course is UEECD0007 Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace, OR UETDREL006 Work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker.

Course Requirements

Successful completion of this course requires participants to have the physical ability to respond to an emergency situation where they need to maintain breathing and circulation in an adult, child or infant following cardiac arrest. This includes the requirement for all participants to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor.

Foundation skills are the underpinning communication skills required for participation in the workplace, the community and in adult education and training.

Learning – to learn to provide cardiopulmonary Resuscitation in an emergency.

Reading – to use a defibrillator (AED).

Writing – to complete documentation such as reports/risk assessments.

Oral communication – to call the ambulance and provide a handover.

Numeracy – to count the number of compressions and breaths.

All training and assessment materials and equipment will be supplied throughout the course. Students will need to bring a blue or black pen and wear comfortable, casual clothing.

1 day classroom training and assessment.

Training and assessment can be adjusted to account for specific workplace requirements and the existing skills and knowledge of the students.

Renewal

In accordance with Electricity Supply Industry (ESI) guidelines, Competency Training recommends that low voltage rescue training is refreshed every 12 months.

First aid codes of practice recommend that refresher training in CPR should be carried out annually.

Ask your employer about their currency expectations.
