HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting (Paper-based)
The course we deliver is highly practical and focused on developing skills you can put into practice in real emergency scenarios.
This course provides the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty. The course applies to individuals who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
Certain workplaces may require additional or specialised training, including childcare and high-risk environments. If you are unsure whether the training product is right for you, please seek advice from the training provider.

Units of Competency
On successful completion of this course, students will be eligible for a Statement of Attainment (SOA) for:
- HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support
- HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
- HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting
An SOA will be issued by Skills Network Australia Pty Ltd within 30 days of completion of the course, provided all USI verification, fees and charges have been finalised.

Prerequisites
There are no pre-requisites for this course.
Course Requirements
Successful completion of this course requires participants to have the physical ability to respond to an emergency situation and provide a first aid response to a casualty. This includes the requirement for all participants to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor.
Foundation skills are the underpinning communication skills required for participation in the workplace, the community and in adult education and training.
- Learning – to learn to provide an emergency response.
- Reading – to administer medication for anaphylaxis or asthma.
- Writing – to complete documentation such as reports/risk assessments.
- Oral communication – to call the ambulance and provide a handover.
- Numeracy – to count the number of compressions and breaths.
- Digital literacy – to access and navigate online learning environments (where applicable).
Training and assessment materials and equipment will be supplied throughout the course. Students will need to bring a blue or black pen and wear comfortable, casual clothing. Students completing online components will require access to a reliable computer or portable device with an internet connection.

Renewal
First Aid Codes of Practice recommend that refresher training in CPR should be carried out annually and first aid qualifications should be renewed every three years.
Ask your employer about their currency expectations.
Fees and Payments
This course is offered and delivered by an authorised third party provider for Skills Network Australia Pty Ltd. The course fee will be paid direct to the third party provider.
This course may be arranged by an employer who can be invoiced for the training. If the student is booking direct, training fees must be paid by the student directly to the third party provider. Course fees and payment terms will be communicated to the booking party (employer or student) prior to enrolment.
